Samsung Galaxy Gear Review

Samsung Galaxy Gear

Samsung Galaxy Gear

Samsung Galaxy Gear latest developments in the arena of smartwatch and Samsung's latest venture in wearable gadget. With the built-in camera and the ability to make and receive calls directly from your wrist, the Samsung Galaxy Gear trying to meet many needs

Samsung Galaxy Gear: Design

Textured plastic straps can be easily adjusted and buckles are safe and without danger of coming loose when tied. Watch looks great when compared with the standard clock, but when on your wrist feels light and comfortable. In just 73.8g weight was not too heavy and not cause discomfort after use one day. Moreover, the body clock just 11.1mm thick, almost without chunkier than your cell phone.

Scuffing issues aside, the Samsung Galaxy Gear have enough restrained design. A sleep button / single power on the right side smartwatch which makes it look sophisticated and, well, like a watch. With a pair of noise canceling microphone and speakers built single buckle elegant in that hour, just Gear major design flaw is its camera mounted strap. It looks like protrusions awkward and do not detract from the sleek, slim appearance somewhat.

In a move that continues to push Samsung into a more fashionable design has launched a variety of colors Galaxy Gear. Samsung Galaxy Gear is available in Black, Mocha gray, wild Orange, Rose Gold, Lime Green and tastily named Oatmeal Beige.

Samsung Galaxy Gear

Samsung Galaxy Gear: Screen

Samsung Galaxy Gear has occurred due to the rapid growth of the smartphone screen size and so on, as you would expect, it has a relatively compact display. Screen 1.63 inch Samsung Galaxy Gear actually felt quite refreshing, to do its job without strong. Although the feature is only 320 x 320 pixels, this is more than enough to give a small Super AMOLED panel detail and sharp visuals. 275 PPI (pixels per inch) is actually similar to the full-HD 7-inch tablet.

Although small Samsung Galaxy Gear supports all touch commands that you'd expect from a smartphone is connected to. Swipe-based interface is quick and easy to navigate and two finger pinch to zoom can be used in the photo gallery. Being able to analyze the image in closer detail directly from hours smartwatch highlight potential as a standalone device is a useful addition.

Samsung Galaxy Gear screen offers bright colors but the contrast ratio is a little weak. Gradient between slightly yellow color, with some subtlety in the same color. It is more detailed than the Sony SmartWatch 2 similarly sized 220 x 176 pixels, though.

With Samsung phones and tablets impressive displays of their famous, screen Samsung Galaxy Gear continues the trend, with good viewing angles, in particular, proved useful on wearable devices.

Samsung Galaxy Gear: Performance

Samsung Galaxy Gear powered by an 800MHz single-core processor and is more than enough to handle the tasks required of it, for the most part. Partnering with 512MB of RAM, clock running smoothly, although the time required for some features and applications (such as contacts and call logs) are longer than we would have liked.

Although you can receive email and Twitter alerts directly to your wrist, you can not read the full message on the Galaxy Gear. Instead watch offers the option to open the message on the device using the Smart Relay parents. While it is useful to know when incoming email and social signals, lack of access to more than Gear makes close watch for excessive. You can, however, read a text message on the teeth.

Make and receive calls directly from the Galaxy Gear extra good and the audio quality is quite impressive. The touch screen ensures smooth make and answer calls and, in terms of performance, calling Gear selection works well. What is less interesting, though, is how much berk that you see make calls, talk to your wrist like a 1980s TV spy. During testing we feel too embarrassed to answer calls during rush hour in the area on more than one occasion.

One area where the Samsung Galaxy Gear not shine, is a fitness tracker, the integrated accelerometer and gyro-sensors convert hours into your own pedometer. Communicate with the master device and integrated applications Samsung S Health, watches lets you keep track of your daily number of steps and set personal targets and perform pre-set workout session. Although substitute all-in-one suitable for the likes of Nike FuelBand, this is not a quality that is large enough to overshadow all the negative points redemption Gear.
Samsung Galaxy Gear

On the overall performance, the Samsung Galaxy Gear showed faint glimmer of brilliance but comes up short on too many occasions. Get email and Twitter alerts will be much more useful if you could actually read the damn things, and when you can read the text message, we would like to see the option to reply directly from your wrist in future iterations.

Samsung Galaxy Gear: Battery Life

Batteries are another major stumbling block for the Samsung Galaxy Gear. Unlike your standard wristwatch, which will go years between battery changes, gear needs to be recharged every night. Although Samsung claims that the power pack 315mAh in Gear will support 25 hours of continuous use, the rate is a little over ambitious.

Although making use of low energy Bluetooth 4.0 connection to the master device, the Samsung Galaxy Gear is the power a bit hungry. Given the limited durability, charging Samsung Galaxy Gear have been made unnecessarily complicated as well. In an effort to help the aesthetics, Samsung has been removed from the Galaxy Gear microUSB port, instead of bundling watch with a separate dock.

What this means is that the charging dock to give a new lease of life Gear, you also have to carry the dock with you or make sure you fill out the night at home. Pleasingly, however, the Samsung Galaxy Gear recharge times rather quickly, going from the red zone by 100 percent in less than one hour.

While the battery life is not the best, strong connectivity, with Bluetooth synchronization face no problem dropping during testing. Samsung Galaxy Gear has a decent range when talking to the parents, it also gives us a warning in more than 30 meters.

Conclution

Samsung Galaxy Gear might bring smartwatches future devices, but no one to convince the masses to adopt them. Limited compatibility with branded Samsung phone only, and very few of them at that time, was a major weakness and has limited market Gear into a niche in the niche. Gear licensed supported, too expensive and feels like a rushed effort, made to beat the competition and rivalry rumored, which has failed to reach its potential.

Asus ZenWatch

Asus ZenWatch

Asus ZenWatch

Asus Zenwatch brings elegance and class to Wear Android space with surprisingly competitive price.

Asus ZenWatch: Design and Features

The main feature is a 1.63-inch screen with a resolution of 320 x 320. It is the AMOLED screen. It is bright, sharp and colorful - all the things you want from any screen. This is not a curved screen, but Asus ZenWatch has a curved design. Glass on the front has a gentle curve to it and the frame slightly tapered giving the appearance Asus ZenWatch watch as more than rival boxier.
Asus ZenWatch

I also like the brown leather strap. It goes well with black and gold fascia subtle highlights. It is smartwatch with a little style. And if you do not like straps, watch straps supporting the standard and there is a quick release mechanism that makes it easy to change. On the inside it's pretty standard. There is 512MB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage and a battery 1.4Wh that claim you will get one day of use. Yes, it may look nice, but Asus ZenWatch will need charging every day. Just add it to the list on the bedside table.

Asus ZenWatch: Screen

Asus ZenWatch equipped with a 1.63-inch AMOLED screen with a resolution of 320 x 320. The colors are nice and vibrant, a good point, and it can not be very bright, so it is easy to see while outdoors. This screen has a slight curve to it, and just glide your finger on it while swiping or scrolling, make him feel much better and more natural to interact with. The bezel around the screen, however, very thick because biometric sensors built, but blacks were AMOLED display allows for dark watch face means that blend much better with the bezel.

Asus ZenWatch: Software

There are also several smartphone apps that Asus has built for Asus ZenWatch. The Asus ZenWatch Manager allows you to customize the watch face with changing colors, and choose what information you want displayed. You can also use smartwatch to unlock your mobile device by passing a pin or pattern when the watch close to your phone. You can also cover the clock with your hand to turn off the alarm or incoming call, send an SOS message to a designated emergency contacts, find watches you use the phone or vice versa, has a clock vibrate if you stray too far from your mobile phone, and use it as a flashlight or compass.
Asus ZenWatch

Being Wear Android devices, many of the software is standard for all Android devices Wear. That means a strong dependence on voice search to access all the features. There are a few touches Asus, though. Most, not surprisingly, ranging integrate with other devices and ecosystems ZenUI Asus was developing on Android.Unfortunately watches I see are all in demo mode, but here's a quick run down of what you can do.

Remote Camera
It allows you to control your phone or tablet Asus camera, so you can frame the shot and take it using your watch. Probably of limited use in real life, but it may be useful to selfies contrived.

Find My Phone
It does not require explanation, although not need your phone is within range of the Bluetooth. This is not magic.

Watch Enable
Unlock your phone using your SmartWatch. I'm not sure how useful this one, but it's a neat trick.

Close to Mute
If you have a phone call you do not want to take now, close at hand with the palm of the hand and will turn off your cell phone. A neat little time saver.

Tap Tap
It is user configurable features. Simply select your favorite features and a double tap on the phone will activate it.

The Asus ZenWatch also supports Asus' What's Next and Do It Later app for alerts where you have to be what is and what you should be doing.

Asus ZenWatch: Battery Life

The Asus ZenWatch equipped with a 360 mAh battery that Asus claims will provide a full day of battery. In my experience, it's better, and I consistently get at least two days of use even with the screen always on mode is enabled. Because this is an AMOLED display, the entire screen is not lit when in dim conditions, and you may be able to push the battery life further by using watchface with a black background.

Conclution

Given the functions of Android Wear remain consistent between devices, there is not much separating Asus ZenWatch from all others in the mix this time. Yes, it distinguishes itself, similar to how the competitors do, by providing us with a new face to watch, a different approach to health / wellness, and how to measure heart rate. Shallow, however, we would not necessarily say it was a step forward in the experience.

Visually, it is a sophisticated look for things that garners looks and questions from the observer to the impressive construction and premium finishes - the hallmarks of every timepiece impressive.  Of course, we did not find any fault in choosing it if you insist on buying one today, but it will be interesting to see how its competitors are able to improve their second-generation bidding.

Motorola Moto 360 : Best Smarwatch Design

Motorola Moto 360 : Best Smarwatch Design

Motorola Moto 360

Motorola Moto 360: Design

Watch features a round face is favored Moto 360 for the most part, but unfortunately it is not so perfect circle when you get up close. The first thing is how chunky it is actually the case. At the height 11mm thicker than most smartphones and small wrist us it does have an elaborate display. Compare with most standard analog watches and Moto 360 just does not have the grace to make it interesting in the wrist.

It says a lot about the watch when the strap is actually the best part. Motorola uses Horween leather, and while it probably will not mean anything to you, we know that it sits snug at the wrist and does not give any irritation. A choice of stainless steel bracelet is on the road, which is probably a better accompaniment to watch stainless steel face, but it still does not hide the fact that this is far from sleek timepiece.

Another problem is that the screen does not sit flat with bezel and when you see the notice, especially on lighter background you get some refraction at the edge of the screen, which creates a strange warping effect. This is not as big a problem as a black bar, but it was enough to put us off.
Motorola Moto 360

Around the heart rate sensor's optical surface inductive charging, to support wireless charging, which means you do not completely rely on proprietary charging cradle that came in the box with wireless charging dock.

Like the first round watches Wear Android, Moto 360 water resistant with IP67 certification, so you can submerge in water up to one meter deep for 30 minutes. As we discovered while wearing them in the bathroom and caught in the rain during a run, you'll have a hard time using the touch screen in these conditions, and that the leather watch strap can remain wet for a while before finally dries off.

Motorola Moto 360: Screen

Moto 360 uses a 1.5-inch IPS LCD backlit display, which is a surface that is smaller than rival Android Wear choice - though without the thick bezel actually seems a little bigger. It has a resolution of 320 x 290 with 205ppi pixel density, making promises about the quality of the same screen with G Watch and Gear Live, and also struggle when you need to display an image.

Good screen response, register friction and prods to launch the application properly when you are stationary. Moving, however, it was a slightly different story and can take an extra swipe or tap to get it to work. Moto 360 is not alone in this - it is something that needs to be addressed across the board wearable.

For those worried about the durability of the screen, Motorola uses Gorilla Glass 3. That not only means that there is an extra layer of protection on the screen to watch, but also helps to increase the viewing angle.

Motorola Moto 360: Features

360 again does not differ too much from the competition. The brain is a TI OMAP 3 processor, which is the CPU setup is a little older than the Snapdragon 400 architecture lies in its competitors. It was accompanied with 4GB of internal storage and 512MB of RAM to match other Android smartwatches Wear.

There is not much difference in performance here. There are some slight lag in general navigation compared to Gear Live, for example, and voice search query processing is not as fast as we want to be.

Motorola Moto 360

Said 'Okay Google still be a core part of the experience Wear Android, so Motorola has included dual microphones to make out with a clear voice commands. It works well, but did not feel much better than the previous Android Wear watches. If you breathless mid-run, may struggle to make out simple commands that are designed to be recognized by 360, such as: ". Show me my heartbeat"

On the fitness side of things, Motorola includes a pedometer to track steps, plus a heart rate monitor. It is built to work with Google's own Fit and Heart Rate and Heart Rate Activity Motorola applications. It was immediately confusing process, so that you really need to worry about is part heartbeat. Here you will be able to see how hard (or not so difficult) you are working out. The problem, as Gear Live, is that the heart rate readings are inconsistent and sometimes struggle to give a reading at all.

Motorola Moto 360: Battery Life

Motorola recently introduced a firmware update where some users have noticed the battery life is longer, but after not receiving updates we can only base our findings on older firmware.

Unlike standard digital watches, Moto 360 does not have an always-on screen by default, but you have the option of using the Ambient screen mode to keep the screen turned on.

One thing that rivals Moto 360 has no support for wireless charging. Small wireless charging dock work with a standard micro USB cable and you can sit down to watch either way round to power it back.

It quickly restore the battery 360 as well, do it in just over an hour, and can double as a bedside clock if you do not already have one or use your phone to do the same.

Conclution

Moto 360 is not smartwatch we hoped it would, and still leaves Android Wear with a lot of convincing to do.

LG G Watch R :Best Android Wear Watch

LG G Watch R :Best ANdroid Wear Watch

LG G Watch R: Design

First G Watch as plain and boring to watch as you can. Rectangular face dull, thick rubber strap and black screen bezel makes it feel more like a prototype of your watch will be happy to roll up your sleeves to check the time.

Fast-forward four months and G Watch R is an entirely different prospect. It is smartwatch that really looks good. In fact, it was the best looking one we've seen.

Dial plastic around the screen gives G Watch R interesting, sports chronograph look. It is more suitable for analog watch face as a result, although you still have the option to digital if you wish. You get an IP 67 water and dust resistant certified the same as its predecessor, so that you can submerge in water up to 1 meter for 30 minutes and we can ensure passing a bath.

LG has improved since the first G Watch straps, too. It is still 22mm types that can be replaced, but black, genuine leather new more luxurious body compliment. It feels a little stiff at first, but it's not something that makes him uncomfortable or irritating to wear.

Unlike the G Watch, there is the power button where you will usually find the crown watch, so you do not have to use the palm of that during the movement of the screen to dim or turn off the screen. The back of the house is now compulsory heart rate sensor and pin charging for the supplied dock.

LG G Watch R: Screen

LG G Watch R
G Watch R see LG move from LCD displays used in G Watch to 0.5mm thin P-OLED displays new. This is the same screen technology used in smartphones G Flex and while the leaked roadmap companies see P-OLED (Plastic OLED) devices bent shape the future, for the G Watch R promising quality similar to the AMOLED display. You can expect a richer color, bright screen, outdoor visibility is better and superior contrast ratio performance compared to LCD-based smartwatches.

G Watch R delivers on all these areas. It is up there with the Samsung smartwatches for the spirit, and it is much easier to use for use in direct sunlight from G Watch. Icons and text does not have a vague, hazy quality the same as it did on the first day of the LG Android Wear SmartWatch. This is to increase the resolution of 320x320, which is beyond the Moto 360 and the corresponding resolution AMOLED display Gear Live.

LG G Watch R: Features

Inside, the G Watch R uses the same components as the first LG Android Wear watch. There is a 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor with 512MB of RAM and 4GB of storage. It is enough for the demands placed on a smartwatch. 4GB of storage it will be useful when the soil latest Android updates Wear and add music playback offline, so you are not so dependent on carrying the phone.

Heart rate monitor to work more. It integrates with Google Fit platform and our time with it is really only suitable for checking heart rate. Continuously track heart rate data is more problematic and does not compare to watching a special run like TomTom Runner Cardio or chest strap heart rate monitor can provide. Reading least accurate than the Adidas miCoach fitness Smart Run Band we ran against, but the barking 'show me the heartbeat' when you are out of breath is not great.

LG G Watch R

As G Watch, which is a little vibration motors provide notice to feel more physically so you do not lose them, while the embedded microphone is positioned close to the face to ensure orders picked up nice and clear.

LG G Watch R: Battery Life

It was at this point where everything comes crashing down to Wear smartwatches Android and smartwatches generally Pebble restrictions. LG G Watch R is not alone in providing the type of battery that makes them so frustrating to use.

At least LG have done something about the way you fill G Watch R. No wireless charging sad, but there is a simple docking cradle where five charging pins on the watches have to sit right on the dock. This is a leaner alternative to clunky method offered by its predecessor, but it still does not hide the fact that this is still charging dock belonging to another you have to keep an eye on.

Conclution

LG G Watch Wear comfortable on the Android stack, but there is still work to do to make the concept fly smartwatch.

Pebble Steel : Best Smartwatch 2014

Pebble Steel : Best Smartwatch 2014

Pebble Steel

Pebble Steel: Design

Original Pebble is subtle and understated but, sporting all-plastic design, it does not really exude class. The Pebble Steel may exercise the same internal tech, but it is squarely aimed at the higher end of the market - it costs £ 180 compared with £ 100 standard Steel Cheap plastic-feeling was replaced by brushed stainless steel, watch lends a more sophisticated appearance. This is emphasized by a genuine leather strap, and there are also other variants that come with metal straps.

Although it looks upscale, the Pebble Steel share 5 ATM water resistant rating is the same as the relationship cheaper. No touchscreen - something that sets it apart from other smartwatches in the market - so that the four buttons used to navigate the interface and make choices. There is a button on the left side that acts as the "back" and three other people at the right edge. The top and bottom of this move you up and down through the intuitive on-screen menu, while the center button acts as the "receive" command.

Pebble Steel: Screen

This screen is also rather low-tech compared to the latest Android devices Wear, which is due to a monochrome screen, rather than full-color models. At 1.26 inches across and with a resolution of 144 x 168 pixels that is about half the resolution of Android watches Wear on but it's easier to read outdoors in direct sunlight, although again not quite in the same class as e-ink . Having a background, too, and it can be triggered just by flicking your wrist.

Pebble Steel: Features

As with nearly all currently available smartwatch, Pebble Steel does not really have a lot of his own mind; instead, used to deliver notifications from your phone.

While much of this functionality built-in out of the box, there is a complete app store that contains the new programs to download and watch the design of new faces. This store can only be seen on your mobile phone using special Pebble application (this also handles the connection to the watch itself), and once you make a choice that takes a few seconds to install the selected application or watch face your wrist.

Pebble Steel

One of the most useful features that we found is the ability to control the music player of your mobile phone by using the button, save bother must take your handset out of your pocket every time you want to skip tracks. We also found a great application that works with Google Navigation - watch take on a new direction and the beam directly onto your wrist, which is very useful if you are on foot and struggling to find your way around an unfamiliar city.

Pebble Steel: Performance

What is really striking about Pebble Steel is how simple and easy it is. After connecting all the important notices are sent to the clock, which silently vibrate for each alert.

There are other benefits here - as you activate your phone's screen less, you'll find that the battery lasts longer than usual. With more than 5-inch displays are now the norm, stamina handset is drastically influenced by the demands of the screen, and the less active during the day, the more time you will get in-between the recharging time.

Bluetooth phone connection between watching and strong, and we do not see disconnected accidentally during the period of our review. The distance is also impressive - there are times when we left our phone in another room and notice still managed to qualify for the Pebble Steel. When termination did not occur because the phone and watching it being split up, the device automatically returns the link as soon as it is within range again.

Pebble Steel: Battery Life

Stamina is a real bone quarrel with the owner smartwatch. The first wave of watches Wear Android plagued with terrible battery, which means that users have to charge their devices every night to make sure they do not run out of juice halfway through the next day.

The Pebble Steel advertised as having 5 to 7 days lasting power, and while it may be achieved with very little use, we found that 4 to 5 days is a more realistic figure.

Conclution

Like the original Pebble, Pebble Steel is probably the most convincing smartwatch we've seen so far, largely thanks to a very good battery life, and a direct function of a growing collection of special applications. It is a device that is highly recommended that for about the same price as many Android Wear-rival, but has the added bonus that is compatible with iOS. The only real warning here is that the standard Pebble share the same function, but about half the price....
